A case study for using solar power for emergency lift operation in hospital is discussed. The details of load estimate PV array, battery and inverter selection and sizing show that less than 30 m2 roof area and accessories are sufficient to facilitate the system. Further, economic feasibility analysis using RET screen shows a fast break even time period less than 4 years. The article describes the basic configuration selection and sizing of the solar PV system.
